Since dogs and cats cannot produce omega-3 essential fatty acids, they must be taken as dietary supplements.
Fish oil is the best source of omega-3 fatty acids for pets. Ongoing research indicates that they are a beneficial daily dietary supplement for humans, dogs, and cats.
Omega-3 fatty acids are used to :
- support kidney and heart function;
- maintain a healthy skin and coat;
- maintain overall health.
Omega-3 fatty acids may also support joint health.

a High strength omega oil for dogs

I bought this on recommendation from dermatology specialist my dog was under. One of my dogs has A LOT of allergies so he can suffer with his skin. I do think it makes a difference to him and it has the added bonus of encouraging my fussy dog (no allergies) to eat!

Easy dispensing system; dogs coats have improved a lot - and above all they don't have any dry skin issues any more

Can't know yet if it is as good as the recommendations but vet recommended it to try to soothe an itchy dog with no apparent cause. It certainly hasn't made things any worse and am hopeful that it will certainly be good for her.

My golden retriever has been taking these for about a year now. They seem to help his coat as well as his arthritis. In capsule form, you can break the capsule and put on their food or do as my boy does, eat them whole....
Really difficult to know just how effective they are so hence the 4 star rating.

Is this product suitable for cats too?
This product is intended for dogs.
We would recommend our own brand product EpiGlow™ Scottish Salmon Oil for Cats & Dogs, which also contains Omega 3. EpiGlow has been proven to help with promoting both coat appearance and overall health, including the joints, eyes, heart, brain and immune system.

Is this suitable for dogs with kidney failure ?
This depends on the severity of your dog's kidney failure. Usually kidney disease is managed carefully with special diets and changes to these diets can affect the condition. This supplement is based on fish oil and so may affect a current renal diet, however the amount given to dose your dog will be very low compared to the normal food. It is best to check with your vet to ensure this is safe though.

Do I need to add vit e when using this every day or is there enough added? Thanks!
This should contain adequate vitamin E unless you have some separate reason to want to give unusually high levels of this vitamin. I doubt if you will need to give any extra.

Are these supplements ok for a small breed puppy of 8 weeks old (French bulldog)
This supplement should be suitable for your dog, along with a good quality, balanced diet, but personally I would not start it until he/she is 12 weeks old. That should give the digestive system a bit more time to mature and so you will get the most benefit from the supplement.
