It's seems a good value product. I wanted to give my cat a supplement for her liver as she is elderly and gets intermittent grey diarrhoea, an indicator of liver insufficiency. Her diarrhoea has cleared and she seems happier

My dog has a high liver count and takes these daily. The liver count is still high but I don't know what it would be if hr didn't take the capsules.

Evening. What dosage of hepatosyl should I give my elderley dog (12 kg). Thanks.
For a dog between 7 - 13kg you will need to give 2 Capsules of the 100mg Capsules and 1 Capsule of the 200mg Capsules

I know it contains SAMe, Silybin and Turmeric, but could you say what the proportion are per capsule. My dog currently takes Nutramarin, one per day - has been on it for 3 months now. Could you say if it similar enough and would you recommend the same dose. I have only a weeks supply left so need an answer fairly quickly in order to order.
Hepatosyl® Plus contains three liver antioxidants: S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), Vitamin E and Silybin. Silybin is the active isomer of Silybum marianum (milk thistle). Hepatosyl® Plus contains Vitamin K, which is needed by the liver for the production of clotting factors.
Each capsule contains: 50mg S-Adenosylmethionine, 20mg Silybin extract, 0.05mg Vitamin K, 10mg Vitamin E, 5mg Magnesium stearate, 20mg Alfalfa powder
Administration guide: Up t0 4kg 1 capsule daily 4 to 7kg 2 capsules daily

Can Hepatosyl Plus be used as a substitute for Hepaticare on long term usage?
The two supplements contain the same ingredients, the SAM-e in particular is dosed at the exact same concentration. Hepatosyl Plus is therefore an appropriate alternative. It is still recommended to run the change past your vet though just to be certain it is safe.

Vet recommended using Denamarin 225mg medium dog for my Working Cocker after bloods revealed need. What dosage of Hepatosyl + would be an equivalent, please, as Denamarin has become very difficult to source. Thank you.
You should follow the doseage according to the packaging guidelines, this will provide the correct amount of the ingredients within. Any use of this supplement outside of the packaging guidelines should only be done alongside advice from your vet.

Are there any side effects of long term usage, ie 12months
This is a supplement and classed similarly to food, therefore there are no listed side effects. Pets can react though similarly to how they can react to an intolerance/allergy to a food, such as with diarrhoea/vomiting or skin conditions. However this usually occurs within the first few days of using the supplement if it is going to be an issue. There are no known or listed side effects for long term use of the product.

Would this be more palatable for my cat than samylin which she will not take at all.
Will it do the same job.
Yes this product is very similar to Samylin and can be used as an alternative. It is unlikely to be more/less palatable, it does come in capsular form though that is sprinkled into the food. You may find this easier to mix in than the Samylin tablets.

My vet recommended Samylin sachets for my elderly cat but he (the cat, not the vet!) seems to know when it has been added to his food and refuses to eat it. I see that Hepatosyl is marketed as palatable. Is it worth trying this instead?
The capsules that Hepatosyl come in are palatable, however if your cat is fussy then you may still struggle. The two products will work very similarly so it is worth trying. You may find they are easiest given sprinkled into very palatable food, such as wet food or tuna (as long as these are safe for your cat to eat).

What dose would I need for my boxer. She currently weighs 26.9kg and was diagnosed with liver disease after having chemo treatment. They believe the damage was caused by the steroids. My battle currently is for her to keep food down as she us committing all the time. I read a review on these which gave me hope....
I would recommend you give 400mg daily (2 of 200mg tablets).
If she is vomiting a lot your vet might be able to offer something to help control this (the most effective drug is prescription only so you need to talk to your vet).

My toy poodle is 11 and he has multi organ chronic inflammation. He is currently on samylin but with all his other meds I cannot afford to continue it long term.
Is hepatosyl a good alternative ? It is half the price and from what I can understand he would only need it every other day long term.
If samylin is much better could I give this every other day long term ? He is a 4.6kg.
Many thanks
The products are very similar and there is very little difference in the ingredients they contain. I am not aware of any scientific trials conducted to compare the two products so it is not possible to say with certainty, but I believe you would be OK to switch to Hepatosyl. You should check with your own vet too.

my dog has been taking hepatosyl,for 3 1/2, months,his liver enzymes are down,but not normal yet,how long can I continue,giving 1, 50mg caps for,can I continue for a long period of time yet,without any side effects,thankyou
It is recommended to give one capsule daily for 2-3 months then reduce to every other day for long-term maintenance.
