Johnson's Bitch Spray helps to ease the attention on bitches in season by discouraging the unwanted attention from other dogs. It is made up of a mixture of herbal oils which disguise the oestrus odours of a bitch in season.
Shake can before use. Spray from about 30cm (12"); apply a half-second spray to each side of hind quarters, also under hind legs and base of tail. Use twice daily, particularly before exercising, when the bitch should be kept on a lead to avoid any undue risk. If possible, commence spraying 2 - 3 days before season starts and continue daily until several days after termination. Also spray around doors and gates of house.

Bought this product near the end of my dogs season, wish I'd bought it at the start, doesn't smell great but worked well. As the directions advise ,needs to be applied more than once in a day.

I purchased this to hopefully discourage my castrated dog from paying too much attention to my in season bitch, it did nothing to deter him. It was suggested I try lavender, I have to say this worked a treat

This is brilliant ! Spray the dogs back end and you will fool the keenest of males! Male dogs can still smell the 'on heat' smell on the bitches head and shoulders and they get very confused because they can't find the ' entrance' place!! They end up occasionally trying 'hump' my friend and me!!! Also excellent for deodorising the dog's bed, kennel and even the room!!

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Johnson's Bitch Spray for Dogs, including answers from our team.
Charlie
My male Cavalier was neutered at 2 yrs of age. He is constantly pestered by other interested male dogs who mistake him for an in season female. Would this spray help to deter them ? Many thanks.
If your dog recieves attention from intact males then the behaviour you are seeing is likely dominance. Johnson's Bitch Spray aims to help cover normal odours from dogs, much of the need to dominate is based on the smell of your dog so the spray may help cover these odours. However this is not it's main purpose so I cannot guarantee it will work in this way.

Does bitch spray work with a male in the same house
Yes to some extent, but depending on lots of factors, life might still be difficult. This is mostly down to how "randy" the male is. This varies enormously between different breeds and also individuals within the same breed. You can certainly try it, but keeping them in different places is the best thing if possible.
