Feeding Guide
All dogs are individuals, and feeding guides are meant to be used as an initial recommendation.
Monitor your dog’s body condition and adjust feeding amounts accordingly.
Storage:
Once opened, you can safely store ORIJEN Dry food in its packaging by rolling the top of the bag down after each use. If you live in a humid climate, consider using an airtight container and simply put the entire bag of food in the container.
Remember to wash your storage bin whenever you change out your bag of food to ensure food build-up does not occur. Remember, too, to keep the lot number handy.
Refrigeration of ORIJEN Dry Kibble is not required. Rather than a garage with large temperature fluctuations, the best storage is in your home in a cool, dry place at room temperature.

Excellent as far as kibble goes. I always taste kibble and it usually is disgusting and very chemical in after taste. Even the expensive ones. Most gets chucked out. Orijen actually tastes (for a dog) wholesome .

My dog seemed to really love this and her skin/coat looks really healthy

Unfortunately it caused my 2.5kg dog diarrhea for several so I had to return to the puppy version of Orijen. I will try again when she is much older to see if it will affect her the same way.

This is nice food but my dogs aren’t very keen, it does have a slight fish smell so maybe that puts them off although they do like fish!! Can’t put my finger on what they don’t like.

My dog went off raw but this is the next best thing: quite simply the highest quality complete food on the market. My girl was a rescue cruelty case: emaciated, mange (bald) and no immune system. She is now flourishing and loves this food. It's not the cheapest, but you get back what you put in and there's ZERO WASTE and the benefits far outweigh the cost. Less vet visits = a happier dog and owner!

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Orijen Regional Red Dog Food, including answers from our team.
Vivienne Clacher
My Yorkshire Terrier is a 12years old proper sized terrier. He has been on antibiotics for a year for skin problems after losing his 12years old brother. And is an anxious dog. My husband passed away at the end of June and his problem was put down to stress, because we were in total isolation. The antibiotics have caused a severe yeast problem. He is now on steroids and malaseb shampoo.
Would this food be alright for him? I have no faith whatsoever in the vet now but due to restrictions I have to try and do the best I can for him. This food does sound very nourishing and best of all there is no potato.
Can you recommend this food?
Kindest regards,
Vivienne Clacher
Yes the Orijen Regional Red Whole Prey food is a great complete diet that will suit the average dog. If your Yorkie has no food allergies or intolerances then you should have no issues with this food. It will provide for all the nutritional needs your dog has.
It is safe to use in a dog with known skin problems, as long as these problems are not allergy related.
If your dog has any allergies then please let us know at [email protected] so we can advise on specific diets that may help.

Is this as good as raw feeding or could it be used along side a raw diet
Certainly it can be used alongside a raw diet. As for how relatively good it is, that is a matter of opinion. Commercial food is safer for you and your family. (Raw meat diets have been associated with extremely serious food poisoning incidents in families, with some deaths occurring in children where the meat was stored in the same fridge as the human foods.) Orijen has a good range of micronutrients which can be missing from raw diets. Raw diets tend to be better regarding dental health and possibly digestive health, but there are still pros and cons either way. Personally I am not a fan of raw diets because although they sound "natural" and one would intuitively think that should be better, raw diets do not always work out well for those who try them. Then some people are fanatical bout them and cannot consider giving anything else. Perhaps it is more down to personal experience and preferences, so the decision is yours.
