Zylkene Calming Supplement for Cats and Dogs
Zylkene is the UK’s no.1 veterinary calming supplement for cats and dogs to help them cope with separation anxiety and stressful situations inside and outside the home such as fireworks and being home alone.
KEY BENEFITS:
Most pets are likely to suffer from worry or stress at some point, especially when something disrupts their daily routine. Reasons for short term stress include fireworks, being home alone (separation anxiety), travelling, vet visits or being in a new place such as a kennel or cattery. Situations that may cause longer term stress include moving house, a new owner, or the arrival of a new baby or a new pet. Zylkene calming supplements are an ideal choice to help support your cat or small dog during these stressful situations. They contain a natural milk protein that is clinically proven to have calming effects.

I bought this for my cat Biscuit, who is a bit of a psychopath and has seriously injured me in the past. The daily dose of Zylkene keeps him from being too aggressive and has actually saved him from behavioral euthanasia.

Excellent product. Really works. Takes a few weeks but made a huge difference to my anxious dog. Cannot now do without

My Staffie Olive is a dog that doesn’t like loud noises, especially fire works. On my local website I mentioned this & I was recommended these. It took a few days during the lead up to bonfire night before they helped calm her. We will give them again a few days before New Year’s Eve as in our area lots of fireworks go off then.

Henry really doesn’t like fireworks and everything that goes with them! Started these a couple of weeks before. We noticed he was barking a lot less and was much easily comforted. Will continue to give throughout the festive period.

This product was recommended by my vet and I tried it first time when the groomer visited with great success. It wasn’t so successful on our holiday journey but I have a very nervous dog.

Our 3 yr male boxer is 27kg I'm not sure which pills to choose as I see there are 2 different dosages per pill ? please advise
You actually can use either the 225mg (2 capsules daily) or the 450mg (1 capsule daily) for a 27kg dog. This will administer overall the same dose. You may wish to use the 450mg capsules as one of these daily works out more cost effective than 2 x 225mg daily.

My cocker spaniel is 16kg, would one capsule be enough?
According to the dosing guidelines, your 16kg spaniel will need 1 x 450mg capsule or 2 x 225mg capsules per dose.

would one capsule be effective for my 12lb cat. I can`t afford to give him two a day.
At 12lb your cat weighs 5.4kg. This is only just above the dose threshold for giving 2 capsules daily, therefore 1 capsule daily dosing is likely to still be effective.
If cost is an issue then I recommend checking out or own brand calmer range, SettleMe. This may be more affordable.

Are there any ingredients in the calming tablets that would be contraindicated with his liver condition? He has a plug in diffuser in the home for calming ,but needs extra help for certain situations: Firework times, visits to the vet and dog groomer.
Your advice would be appreciated. Thank you
There is nothing in Zylkene that should cause a problem specifically. However it is always best to limit diet changes when your dog is only a prescription only diet. I suggest considering other diffuser/spray calmer options to be safe rather than adding anything to the diet. Pet Remedy and Adaptil are good choices.

I have just started my 3 dogs on zylkene (2nd dose last night) as support for the fireworks. They are raw fed dogs and 2 of them today have really dodgy tummies. Are these tablets known for this and what else could I use?
Zylkene is a supplement and so classed similarly to food. There are no listed side effects however pets can rarely react to the product as they would to a food that does not work well with them. For example with soft stools.
I recommend you trial stopping Zylkene. If the signs resolve then you can assume it was this or trial restarting again just to confirm.
I advise reading our blog on Firework Phobias for more information on this topic. Calmin supplements are great as an aid but will not control the underlying issue, they will mainly cover the signs. There are spray/diffuser options that may be more suitable if your dog seem intolerant to oral versions.

Does your product have side effects and if yes what are they?
I have two rescued greyhounds, one has become extremely anxious (last two years) with loud noises, especially fireworks and the other one becomes really anxious because of his behaviour...pacing, panting, drooling and in a sheer panic really.... nothing has worked and I've tried soooo many natural remedies and hacks Thank You

Is it safe to use Zylkene and Milk Thistle together? We currently add milk thistle to our dog's dinner, will mixing Zylkene in with this cause any issues?
We have used Zylkene in the past with great success but this was before we introduced milk thistle to her diet, and now we are getting into firework season and would like to get her back on the Zylkene. Many thanks
There should be no issues with using Zylkene with Milk Thistle, the two products are not known to interact in any way.

My dog is due to get his nails clipped, so how many days before should I start giving him zyklene he's 12kg
The dosing guide for this product is as follows:
Short term use: begin use 1-2 days before the predicted stressful event or change in environment.
Longer term use: use for 1 month then reassess their behaviour, continue if needed.
Nail clipping is a short term use so it is recommended to start dosing 1 to 2 days before the nail clipping is done and continue until the event is over.

Hi, can I use Zylkene and You calm at the same time? We have a very anxious Westie who is very sound sensitive. He has been taking Youcalm for 1 month and have noticed a small difference. But have been recommended to use Zylkene by a behaviourist
Many thanks
Yes these two products are safe to use alongside each other. They do both contain hydrolysate ingredients and so this might be quite a large dose of this particular ingredient though. I recommend choosing either Zylkene or Yucalm, if you wish to use other calmers alongside this then a spray/diffuser calmer like Pet Remedy or Adaptil can be used safely alongside.

Hi,
I tried both my dogs on this and it worked for one and not the other. My retriever is on the 450g tabs and my jrt was on the 75g (it didn't work for him). Can I use the left over 75g tabs for my retriever? He's 28kg and has 1 450g tab a day, but I have a fair amount of 75g tabs left that I'd rather use than throw away. How many 75g tabs would equal one 450g tab.?
Yes you can use your leftover 75mg tabs for your Retriever. At 28kg the dose is 1 x 450mg tabs which is equivalent to 6 x 75mg tabs.
