All animals require optimum nutrition to maintain good health. For some cats and dogs in certain situations, this can’t always be provided through their diet and needs to be supplemented through nutrients. One such group of nutrients are the Omega 3 and Omega 6 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs).
COATEX EFA® contains a blend of Omega 3 and Omega 6 EFAs. The levels are specifically designed to maintain skin and coat health in dogs and cats.
There are many signs of potential skin and coat problems, some of which may lead to skin complaints. The main ones to look out for are:
Coatex EFA comes in either a gel capsule or a liquid pump, to suit the needs of owner and pet. Both can be given alone or mixed in with food.
Bodyweight | Daily Amount |
---|---|
Under 10kg | 1 Pump/Capsule |
10 - 19kg | 2 Pumps/Capsules |
20 - 29kg | 3 Pumps/Capsules |
Over 30kg | 4 Pumps/Capsules |
Coatex EFA contains a proven blend of Omega 3 and Omega 6 EFAs. The levels are specifically designed to help health in dogs and cats, and provide a better blend of ingredients than using a single EFA source such as evening primrose oil.
Coatex EFA products are manufactured in Lytham, Lancashire to GMP Standard.

Oh wow does this work. My cat is 13 and his coat wasn't looking to great. He would groom himself but it lost it's lustre and flakey plus moulting everywhere. I give him a capsule every other day. He is looking good and his coat is soft. Would recommend.

My 15 year old cat was looking increasingly scrappy with dandruff and tufty hair and seemed depressed. My vet suggested Coatex as she didn’t seem to be managing to groom herself. Along with regular back comb brushing and a change to a coat/hairball dry food, the transformation has been amazing. She is like a different cat. No more dandruff, sleek coat and her mood is so different. So glad I made the effort for her.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Coatex EFA Skin & Coat Supplement for Dogs & Cats, including answers from our team.

Is this supplement safe to use in dogs with pancreatitis
This depends on the severity of your dog's pancreatitis. Mainly you want to avoid low fat food but some dogs are set off by any dietary changes, it is best to run the use of the supplement past your vet.

Hi there,
I was wondering if the coatex capsules can be given to a puppy(a 6 months Labrador retriever) to reduce the moulting and improve the quality of the coat ?
Many thanks
VetPlus who manufacture this product unfortunately do not liase with online pharmacies so I cannot obtain the answer to this question for you. However I can confirm our own brand Omega Oil supplement EpiGlow is safe to use in a 6 month old puppy. Omega Oils are a major part of the skin/coat and so supplementing can improve general coat quality.

Both my mini schnauzers have allergies, and suffer with skin problems because of this. They are both on Apoquel which helps to an extent. Which coatex should I use? The aloe and oatmeal or the medicated?
Coatex medicative shampoo is more aimed at dry/flaky skin or skin that is prone to infections, which can be common with allergies. If your dog does not seem to get infections then Aloe and Oatmeal version is probably more suitable. If your dog has repeat episodes of infected skin/inflammation then the medicative shampoo is more ideal.

My dog has recently come out with scabs along his back and sides .He is on Lily's fishy fish pie with a spoon (5ml) of bionic biotec ,he also suffers from ear infections for the past 5 years that the vets haven't been able to cure we have recently used trizaural along with otomax ear drop suspension and this appears to have worked also started to bath him in Coatex aloe &oatmeal and this seems to work
Can you please help the dog is a 8year old labradoodle
Coatex might well be good for his skin so I would continue with that. The spots are likely to be a reaction to something or possibly a sign of infection. Your vet should take a look at them if possible. You might find that trying an exclusion diet would help to identify an underlying allergic response to some sort of food item, so it would be worth talking to your vet about that. We sell lots of suitable diets and they can make a huge difference, but it would be best to check with your vet first.
