Any dog that scavenges when out walking, or cats that hunt and consume mice or birds, are at high risk of tapeworm infection. Our pets often show few, if any, signs of a tapeworm infection but if left untreated it can lead to serious health complications for your pet and your family. Don’t risk it. Trust Droncit for fast-acting treatment of all common tapeworm species found in the UK.

Fleas serve as intermediate hosts for one of the common types of tapeworm Dipylidium caninum. To avoid reinfection with this parasite, flea control of the animal and its housing should be carried out at the same time. Unless flea control is complete an infected flea population may survive and re-treatment of the animal may be necessary.
Keep out of sight and reach of children and wash hands after use.

I used this to treat my rabbit for tapeworm upon veterinary advice. Broken into quarters, put in a tiny piece of banana and wrapped in a basil leaf and down it went. That same evening she passed a tapeworm so it certainly does what it's meant to. I could provide a photo as proof but it's pretty grim 🤢

I am planning to buy drontal liquid for my puppy as the breeder was using that, she is at today 9 weeks and 2 days and weight 1.28 kilos. i read that drontal liquid is for roundworm and in one of the questions was suggested to use this product. Can my puppy have it? if yes how much and how often? thank you
You should not need to worm for tapeworm until your pup has been weaned or unless they are at risk of fleas. Your 9 week old pup does meet this criteria so it is advised to cover this too.
Droncit is only suitable for dogs weighing over 2.5kg. I recommend using a combination worming tablet that covers both roundworms and tapeworms instead of using the liquid alongside a tapewormer. Mainly as it is a lot easier. Our own brand TermaWorm can be used in dogs over 1kg and so is suitable. You should dose 1/4 of a tablet for your pet. It is advised to worm at 8, 10 and 12 weeks of age and then monthly until 6 months. At 6 months old an adult worming plan can be started.

Hi what is the difference between Droncit and Drontal, does Droncit give extra protection?
Droncit only covers tapeworms whilst Drontal covers both roundworms and tapeworms. If you are already covering roundworms with another product (such as Advocate spot on) then Droncit is more appropriate. If you are not then it is best to use Drontal.

hi,
it says 5 kg = 1 tablet , what is the dog is more than 2.5 kg but less than 5kg?
or is it up to 5kg = 1 tablet?
Your 4kg dog will need half a tablet of Droncit according to the datasheet. It is a very safe medication, giving 5kg worth of dose to your 4kg is safe.
Debbie
How much would my 6.7 kilo puppy need in one Dosage?
Your 6.7kg puppy would need 1 tablet as these are dosed at 1 tablet per 10kg.
Denise Catterall
How often do you give a dog the Droncit tablet. Is it twice a year?
It is usually advised to treat for tapeworm every 3 months for the average dog.
Can this be mixed with food
My dog has a horror of tablets - can this be mixed into food.
Yes, these tablets can be crushed into the food and administered this way if necessary.
Jane
My cat weighs 5.2 kg. Should I use 0.5 or a whole tablet? Thanks
According to the datasheet your 5.2kg cat will need half a tablet per dose.
Robyn Evans
Hi my pup is 3.0kg, would I give half ?
Yes, this tablet is dosed at 1 table per 10kg so your 3kg dog will need 1/2 tablet. If you need advice on what wormer to use in your puppy then please contact us on [email protected].
Jenny
Hi
I just wanted to check on the dosage. It says 1 tablet per 10kg. Does that mean I give one or two tablets to a 14.3kg dog?
Thanks
Hi Jenny,
The tablets have a divide line so they can be broken in half. Your 14.3kg dog will need 1.5 tablets to ensure they receive an effective dose.
Hope this is helpful.
Kind regards,
VioVet
